Lida M. Sunderland, LPC, LCPAT, ATR-BC began teaching in the art therapy department in 2021. She received her M.A. in Art Therapy from The George Washington University in 2016, and she also holds an M.A. in Art History from the University of Southern California. She earned her B.A. in Art History from New York University.  

Lida serves as the Clinical Director at The Center for Family Well-Being in Washington, DC, an integrative mental health practice, where she provides art therapy and psychotherapeutic counseling for individuals and groups throughout the life cycle. Lida also has robust experience working as an art therapist in schools, and has served as an advocate for equity in mental health in public school systems as a representative of AATA. 

Prior to coming to the field of art therapy, Lida spent nearly a decade pursuing art historical research and curatorial projects in museums and academic departments, including the Museum of Modern Art, NY, and the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles. This rich and varied background in arts education and exhibition deeply informs her approach to the practice of art therapy, as well as her teaching and research.
