Jenna Michalik Preston, MA, ATR-BC, LMHC, CMHS has been teaching the Art Therapy with Adolescents course at GWU since 2010. She graduated from GWU’s graduate art therapy program in 1996. She became a licensed mental health counselor [LMHC] in Washington State in 2007 and child mental health specialist [CMHS] through Washington State in 2008. She is currently a Clinical Psychology doctoral student at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy located in Arlington, VA.
Her clinical art therapy experience includes working in inpatient hospital, day treatment, psychoeducational, and community mental health settings. She also maintained a private practice serving military dependents (children and spouses) for two years while living overseas in England. She has served as a member of the ATCB’s Certification Committee from 2008-2011, the ATCB’s Job Analysis Committee in 2007 and 2012, regional coordinator for the British Association of Arts Therapists (BAAT) from 2004-2006, and served as the Chair for AATA‘s Governmental Affairs Committee (GAC) from 2001-2003.
