Barbara Sobol is Director of the Washington Art Therapy Studio, a private practice of counseling and art therapy. Her clinical focus is on trauma resolution and the development and evolution of a client's artistic "voice". She has published and presented widely on dissociation and attachment and has been an invited speaker at both the American Art Therapy Association and the Quebec ATA. She has taught art therapy with families at the George Washington University since 1984 and was, briefly, Editor of the American Journal of Art Therapy. She has also maintained a commitment to public mental health throughout her career, as a past planning and management specialist for children's mental health in Montgomery County, Maryland, Department of Health and Human Services. She draws, paints, and writes as much as possible.
