Katherine is an art therapist and psychologist in private practice. She has published articles on art therapy education and the application of self-psychology to art therapy theory and practice; and is a member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association. Recipient of the Distinguished Service Award of the American Art Therapy Association, 2000. A scholarship, the Katherine J. Williams Fund, was set up in her honor when she retired from the role as director. The Fund supports diversity in scholarship and the recruitment of graduate students in the Art Therapy Program. Currently Katherine trains and supervises GW on-campus and on-site supervisors.
